Samsung is gearing up to launch its new Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone on May 13, 2025. This ultra-thin flagship is designed to impress users not only with its incredible thickness, but also with powerful hardware, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and an impressive camera.

The official presentation of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will take place on May 13, 2025. Residents of China and South Korea will be the first to purchase the new product — sales in these markets will begin on May 23. At the heart of the Galaxy S25 Edge is the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with an eight-core CPU, which has a revolutionary architecture: two “Prime” cores with a clock speed of up to 4.32 GHz (the highest among mobile chips) and six “Performance” cores with a frequency of 3.53 GHz. Unlike previous generations that used ARM Cortex cores, the 8 Elite is based on Qualcomm’s proprietary second-generation Oryon CPU architecture, which provides up to 50% performance gains over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Graphics and cache
The processor is equipped with an impressive L2 cache (24 MB) and an Adreno 830 graphics accelerator, which demonstrates 40% higher performance while reducing power consumption by 40% compared to its predecessor.
Test results
In benchmarks, the Snapdragon 8 Elite shows impressive results: about 3033 points in the single-core Geekbench 6 test and 9271 in the multi-core test. In AnTuTu, the device scores approximately 2,759,190 points. Despite the high performance, the processor retains excellent thermal efficiency — the surface temperature during intensive CPU testing is about 33°C.
It’s important to note that the Galaxy S25 Edge will feature a full 8-core version of the processor, rather than the 7-core variant used in some devices for better cooling and heat dissipation.
Ultra-thin design
Record thickness
The main feature of the Galaxy S25 Edge is its surprisingly thin profile with a thickness of only 5.8 mm. This makes it significantly thinner than its S25 counterparts: the standard S25 (7.25 mm), S25 Plus (7.35 mm) and S25 Ultra (8.2 mm). The difference is especially noticeable when compared to the S25 Ultra — Edge, which is almost 2.4 mm thinner.
Materials and trade-offs
To achieve such a subtle design, Samsung had to make certain compromises. The device was originally planned to be 6.4 mm thick with a triple camera, but the company opted for a slimmer dual-camera profile to compete with the expected iPhone 17 Air.
Despite the slim body, the S25 Edge will retain premium build quality with a possible titanium frame and ceramic back panel instead of the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 used in other S25 models. The smartphone will be available in several color options, including Titanium Jet Black( titanium black), Titanium Silver (Titanium silver) and Titanium Icy Blue (titanium ice blue).

Main Camera
The Galaxy S25 Edge will feature an impressive 200-megapixel main camera with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization. This is the same high-resolution sensor as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which makes it possible to position the Edge as a premium device for photography, despite the ultra-thin profile.
Camera system
The camera will be complemented by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. Due to the need to preserve the thin 5.8-mm design, the manufacturer abandoned the telephoto lens. Samsung relies on the high resolution of the main sensor, which should compensate for the lack of dedicated zoom lenses through digital cropping and processing using artificial intelligence.
